Vinyl is one of my weaknesses. There are so many special experiences connected to an old vinyl record: the small record store you got to, with the good music, the feeling of fingering through the records, looking at them one by one, enjoying the different artworks, making your personal collection, and actually buying them. And once you have the records, there’s so much more: the mechanics of your deck, watching the record spin and hear the small noises it adds to the sound, adding the record to your own record stack…
One thing I especially like about vinyl, is that I don’t play them that often. It’s always easier to switch on iTunes or Spotify on your computer. But this adds to the uniqueness of a vinyl record, since you really take your time to put them on, you actively listen to it.
And apart from that I believe buying a vinyl record is the best way to support and show your appreciation for the artist. Especially in music genres like hip hop, soul, jazz, …
